Friday within the Octave of Easter
April 1, 2016 8:30am
Readings: Acts
4.1-12
John
21.1-14
This morning we hear of another
appearance of the risen Christ.
We hear of Saint Peter through
the power of the risen Christ.
When I look at all of these
Easter passages in the Scripture, I am left with one primary thought or
feeling: Hope.
The resurrection of Jesus gives
us hope.
It moves us to hope:
v
in all human beings,
v
and in the inherent, created, potential good of
all persons.
It moves us to hope:
v
that our sufferings, like Jesus’, can in some
way be life-giving,
v
and that our longing for full and lasting life
will be satisfied.
This hope comes from our
bondedness with Jesus who is risen.
One author puts it this way:
“This is the Easter message, that awakening is possible, to the
goodness of God, the sacredness of human life, the sisterhood and brotherhood
of all.”
